In the last decades, the healthcare industry has been slow to adopt new technologies. The lack of interoperability between systems and applications has been a major roadblock for developers to build innovative solutions. I believe that the next generation of healthcare applications will be created by builders who are not necessarily experts in healthcare, but rather expert and passionate about providing better care to their communities. The goal is provide them with innovative tools specifically designed for healthcare applications so they can focus on building what matter to their patients.
I am open sourcing today an HL7v2 client library to help developers integrate HL7v2 in their applications with just a few lines of code. This library is now available in Typescript and compatible with Node.js and modern web browsers. The open source package is powering the new playground for HL7v2 messages that you can try out. I am also planning to work on libraries for Python and Rust that will be released in the coming months.
Drawing from years of experience in assisting healthcare organizations and academic institutions in developing innovative applications, I'm eager to share insights and learnings on this new journey.
Start contributing today by checking out the HL7v2 client library. I am looking forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions.
Happy coding!
